ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/SCHEDULE: The demo will be recorded over the months of November/December. We will be working with the cast’s schedule and availability (following social distancing protocols as best as possible.) Recording locations in both Massachusetts and Connecticut as needed.

We anticipate at least one to two longer weekend days in which we will record songs incorporating the full cast and large groups. The composer will provide additional support through private coachings, rehearsals, either in person or via zoom, as needed.

There are nineteen songs required for the demo recording, with three possible reprises to be added if time allows. Not all cast members are required for every song. All orchestrations for the demo are pre-recorded (with access available for rehearsals) and singers will be layering voices over the orchestrations.

All participants will be required to sign a Media Release as well as a Demo Recording Release that allows the creative team to use photos, videos, and the recording for both professional and promotional purposes. Future opportunities with the show are exciting as we will be doing readings in the spring, submitting the show to national musical theater festivals, and continuing to grow the work in as many settings as possible.

All participants will receive a copy of the demo for their own professional use. No stipend available. Housing/transportation not provided. Serious inquiries only.

SYNOPSIS Moms: The Musical is the story of two first-time mothers who, from an unlikely friendship, discover exactly just how strong they are. Both find that striving for perfection leads to struggle, but ultimately – growth. With the help of a trio of Moms on a “mom group chat,” we learn about the pitfalls, positives, and technological aspects facing the modern American mother. Being a first-time Mom is a total breeze, right? Wrong. (The Miracle of Life). Justine, a workaholic who cannot seem to connect to her newborn, is at odds with her husband, Mark (Out Here).
When Justine meets Mia, a bubbly stay-at-home Mom, Mia establishes an instant friendship (A Wonder to Be A Mother). When Justine is fired from her job, she expresses to Mia how important career is to her (The Huntress). Justine’s mother-in-law, Doreen, demonstrates that “old-fashioned mothers” were the best kind (In My Day).
Justine reveals to Mia the darker side of the “beloved” mother-in-law (M.I.L). When Justine needs to hide from her mother-in-law, she goes to Mia’s house where Justine learns the state of Mia’s marriage (Sparkling). Justine, missing her mother, explores how her past influences her present (Pinterest Perfect). When Mia catches her husband Scott cheating on her, both women plot how to get back at him (Operation Nickel and Dime Revenge). Unfortunately, Justine makes a big mistake, leaving us wondering if she will be able to live up to her role as a mother.
Justine and the cast dream about the day their babies were born (The Birthing Room). Mia takes strength from the great heroines of literature (Out of the Story). A trio of moms weigh in on the absurdities of how mothers today use the internet (Mommy and Me Groups). Mia and Scott host a dinner party to cheer up Justine (Cheers). Mia’s good intentions lead to division between Justine and Mia (Rose-Tinted Glasses). Mia confronts Scott about the status of their marriage (Do You See Me?).
Doreen, Justine’s mother-in-law, encourages Justine to step up to the plate and give up her anger so she can enjoy her life again (Having It All). Mia finally reveals to Scott that she knows he has been unfaithful(Uncensored). Justine finally finds a way to connect to her daughter (The Day I Became Your Mother). The cast shares their future desires for their children (May You Know Love.)
