“Grief and Grizzly Bears”

A dramedy in two parts. Because of COVID, this will be filmed but is still very much a stage play at heart.
Home for their father’s funeral, three brothers decide to relive their youth and spend some time together by going camping. Through sharing the outdoors and chance encounters with others, old wounds are reopened and unspoken emotions reveal themselves.
Cast of Characters
STEVE: (Male, can play 40s, all ethnicities)
Oldest half-brother. Internationally-known magician. He knows the pain of grief all too well. He loves his family unconditionally.
TUCKER: (Male, can play 30s, all ethnicities)
Middle half-brother. An unemployed average Joe. He basically inherited two brothers and resents them. He hides his pain through humor and being a jerk.
ELLIOT: (Male, can play 20s, all ethnicities) Youngest half-brother. Middle school teacher. He is married with children, which is something he has always wanted. He adores his brothers and thinks the trip will help everyone.
ROGER: (Male, can play 40s-50s, all ethnicities) Head ranger of the park. He is very serious about his duties and the rules of the park. He also turns into a completely different person when he sees Steve.
CHARLIE: (Female, can play 30s-40s, all ethnicities) The newest park ranger. Has an extremely loud voice. Has held dozens upon dozens of odd jobs that bring a unique perspective to life.
RILEY: (Any gender, ages open, all ethnicities) Madly in love with Sawyer. Postponed dreams so Sawyer could finish law school. Is one of the biggest fans of Steve. And it shows.
SAWYER: (Any gender, can play 26+, all ethnicities) Relationship with Riley is the textbook example of two people in love. Wants to give Riley the world. Is the straightforward, sensible one.
