*Stephen (Lead): Late 30’s to early 40’s – A genuine person but abysmal business savvy. The best of intentions but most of his schemes backfire although he’s always convinced he’s on the fast track to success. At his most desperate he’s a little ‘Michael’ from The Office…on his better days he’s a bit Fraser’. His ideas are a train wreck.
*Monte: Male – Multiple character reads -mid 20’s to mid 30’s – positive, energetic and sincere. Charming… he can talk his way into or out of anything. Clever but not shrewd. More impressed with himself than he should be.
*Bernie: Male – 30’s to 40’s – highly intelligent, eccentric, sarcastic and cocky in all aspects of his personality while swinging between charismatic and curmudgeon. Calculated and shrewd.
*Candice: Female – Multiple character reads – mid to late 20’s – Midwestern charm but not naive, knows how to handle herself with men. Confident. Knows she’s pretty but doesn’t care. Adorable, awkward but sincere, doesn’t know she’s over dramatic… enthusiastic.
*Alison: Female – Multiple character reads – 30’s to 40’s – strong, opinionated woman who tells it like it is… self-important, always in control. Competent and often the voice of reason. Can bark out orders if necessary.
*Karl: Male – Multiple character reads – 30’s to 40’s – Serious and down to business. Rushed. Distracted. Entitled. Confident and slightly detached. Can also play someone right out of “GoodFellas”… Combination of a hitman and Joe Pesci, ‘My Cousin Vinny’.
*Donald: Male – Multiple character reads – mid 20’s to mid 30’s – funny without trying to be. He can be flamboyant but that is only occasional. Sarcastic but not in a mean way. Life entertains him. Mostly supportive and kind and confident. An extrovert. Other reads include: always in a hurry, buttoned up, corporate, zealous and obsessive.
*Jaime: Male – Multiple character reads – mid 20’s to mid 30’s –
ironically vulnerable and introverted he’s often a ‘fish out of water’. Think ‘Moss’ from the IT Crowd. Always sincere in his efforts. Very meticulous and detailed. Gets flustered easily but desperately tries not to show it… can also play a lighthearted stoner like Pauly Shore.
*Mack: Male – Multiple character reads – 50’s to 60’s…Confident, well preserved, stylish and honest. Amorous. Says what he thinks no matter the consequences. A bit arrogant.
*Maestro: Male – Early to late 60’s Italian opera conductor. In his sixties. Charming and attentive. Soft spoken. Beautiful Italian accent and a command of English until he gets angry and then he boils like over cooked pasta and speaks only in Italian. A fiery personality he tries to control but it doesn’t take much to set him off.
