SEEKING VOCALISTS FROM ACROSS AUSTRALIA.- Video Submission of Vocal Performance only.
Audio recording album of new theatrical work by an Australian composer.
The project is recording at Trackdown Studios in Sydney (Fox Studios) and will involve the two successful artists
recording tracks from a new score.
The genre is opera/music theatre.
The Philharmonic is a proud member of Live Performance Australia, and payment and conditions are standard
LPA rates.
We are committed to working in a COVID-19 Safe way and a part of that means we welcome VIDEO auditions
(self-tapes) from across Australia.
You must reside in Australia and be able to travel to Sydney, subject to COVID restrictions, on the dates specified.
Travel and accomodation for artists from outside of Metro Sydney is paid for by the Producer.
Two male vocalists required, portraying the required roles. Strong vocal, sight singing and high musicianship
required (new music requiring the ability to learn music quickly and efficiently).
We are NOT looking for a voice
that sounds like contemporary broadway styling. We are looking for strength in sustained tones, in all registers at
both soft and loud. Experience working with an orchestra (large) and a conductor is highly preferred.
Roles: 2 x Male lead roles, playing 18-26 years old, singing and acting, non-dancing role. Two competitive young
sportsmen, finding their way, find each other and fall in love. We are looking for artists who want to originate a
new role, learn new music and contribute to the development of a new Australian musical theatre project.
This is an open call and while we welcome all applicants, we do not guarantee that we will cast from this call.
SUMMARY:
2 x actors playing male roles —both are lead roles
• Age Playing range: 18–26
• Skills: must be able to read music, highly diverse vocal, strongly voiced, distinctive and interesting. X factor required.
The two lead roles are for baritone or tenor voices. Applicants from all backgrounds welcome.
COVID AUDITION PROTOCOL
All Applicants MUST SUBMIT A SELF-TAPE of three to four minutes singing a song of your choice that demonstrates your vocal range and dynamic range. Not longer than 4 (four) minutes total. You can sing two contrasting songs if you wish.
Make sure your voice is clearly heard over any accompaniment and has no vocal or audio effects put on it.
Start each tape by clearly stating your name and your representation.
