In this coming-of-age drama romance, it’s the most important night of Amari’s life: prom. She soon finds out her parents are not as supportive of her ideal night when she brings home Zach, her transgender boyfriend, into the picture.
AMARI – female, 18, open ethnicity
Protagonist. She’s been the perfect daughter since she was little and doesn’t know what to do now that she’s disappointed her parents by chasing her happiness. Lively, energetic, conflicted.
ZACH – trans male, 18, open ethnicity
He’s used to the close-minded individuals of his community but accepts himself for who he is. Comforting and quiet but not shy or a push-over.
REBECCA – female, 40s, open ethnicity
Subconsciously lives vicariously through her daughter. Wants what’s best for her but is scared of being forgotten or pushed aside. Particular, kind, hopeful.
DAVID – male, 40s, open ethnicity
Wants his daughter to be happy, but is afraid of her being hurt. Has outdated views of transgender people (but eventually willing to learn). Protective, old-fashioned, easygoing.
Filming occurs October 15-18. More specifics will follow closer to the dates.
