Hands
Location: New York City, NY
Type: Film
‘Hands’ is a micro short film that explores a family in turmoil exclusively through close ups of each member’s hands in action. The goal of this project is to show how our hands tell a story.
Narrated from the perspective of the families young daughter, we see the hands of each member hard at work (preparing dinner, sewing up a hole in some old clothes, washing up at the sink), and through the details of each pair of hands we unveil the story of a family, dealing with hardship and learning to heal.
In addition to the thematic elements of family and healing, this project was written as a unique way to film something safely as we all deal with the ongoing pandemic, by shooting exclusively through close ups of characters hands it will allow everyone to keep their masks on and stay safe for the duration of the production.
