My name is Sylvia Denise. I am the Founder of my nonprofit organization B.E.E. Inspiring Inc. I am also the Writer and Director of a Musical I wrote called A Trip to Purpose Land! This is a youth production for ages 6 to 16 years old, with 3 Adult roles needed.
Here is a Synopsis of the Musical:
Meet siblings Devin and Kinsey Baker who due to the death of their mother and now incarcerated father have been placed in a dreadful group home run by the evil Foster Mother Janice Ethel. The Bakers, with feelings of being lost, and alone will lead them on a whimsical trip to a place called Purpose Land! Watch how through determination, belief, songs and creativity the Bakers will gain valuable life lessons from a loveable guide named Papa Purpose and his animated positive, rhythm steppin friends the Purpose Peeps in A Trip to Purpose Land The Musical!
This is a non-paid project. The actors Cast and Crew in this musical will have the understanding that they are a part of something Inspiring to help uplift the community as well as themselves by having a positive experience creating something magical and innovative! As an Actor in this show you will be able to use any photos and video footage for your own Creative Arts Journey. The show date is TBD. Additional details and information will be given out at Auditions and for all that are selected to participate.
Character Breakdown:
Foster Mother Janice Ethel: Age: 45-57: Angry, Irritated, and Bitter ..Foster care mother over 10 years. She has been fostering the Bakers for 2 weeks now. Since they were put in foster care when the bakers mother committed suicide in their home 3 years ago and their father is incarcerated.
Papa Purpose: (A,A) Age: 40-55 ( Tall, Average Build, Infectious Smile, Captivating Voice, Loving and Knowledgeable) Loving and Proud man that acts as a guide to the bakers through Purpose Land, He has undeniable love for young people and helping them discover who they are, because he knows first hand what it feels like to not be loved or supported genuinely.
Devin Baker: (A,A) (M) Age: 14– 16(Sad, insecure, has a big heart suffering from depression) Oldest Baker Sibling. Devin is in high school, with plans of going to medical school. He makes straight A’s but is severely depressed after his mother’s death and being put in foster care.
Kinsey Baker: UNDERSTUDY ONLY (A,A) Age: 9 (sad, shy, suffering from anxiety) Kinsey is in 3rd grade. She is very shy and ever since losing her mother and being placed in foster care she withdraws from reality more than ever. She struggles to make new friends in school and holds a lot of her feelings inside but looks to her big brother Devin as her knight in shining armour.
The Purpose Peeps: Need 7 Young People.. Ages: 6-16, (A,A) (M or F) (Happy, Animated, Fun, Smart) Animated youth who live in purpose land with papa purpose. The Purpose Peeps are the Makers and the Protectors of the purpose stones. The stones are given to the youth once they have reached the end of their time in purpose land. Purpose stones are colored crystals that match the energies of the lessons learned inside of Purpose Land. Purpose Peeps minds are filled with nothing but positivity and encouraging words that they share with youth who enter in.
DFCS WORKER: Age: 23-33 (A,A) This is a speaking Extra role. She is responsible for placing the Baker’s with Foster Mother Janice Ethel. As a former foster kid herself and a visitor to purpose land when she was in foster care. She feels horrible for the Bakers and their situation and has been feeling guilty for placing them in this foster home and has been working hard ever since to find them a loving environment.
