About the show:
A gospel musical by Regina Taylor based on the book by Michael Cunningham and Craig Marberry, this celebration of Black heritage follows Yolanda who is transplanted from Brooklyn to South Carolina in the wake of a family tragedy. As Yolanda struggles to find her place in her new home, she meets a circle of women who show her how to step into her power by donning crowns.

Important Information:
This production runs Feb.17-Mar. 6 in the Straz Center’s Jaeb Theater. Rehearsals will begin the week of Jan. 17, held weeknights and weekend days. All roles are paid $400 per week. All performers must submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination prior to receiving an in-person audition slot. All Straz Center workers, both on and off stage, must be vaccinated.
In-person auditions for Crowns will be held at the Straz Center on Saturday, November 20. To audition, please email auditions@strazcenter.org for an audition time, audition requirements, and directions. Please include your headshot, resume, and proof of vaccination. Proof of vaccination will be required for entry to the building. This call is exclusive to performers 18 years and older in the Tampa Bay area. We cannot offer housing, travel, or per diem for out-of-town performers and are unable to hire members of Actor’s Equity Association at this time.
