Piedmont Opera will hold auditions for its upcoming production of Ragtime on Saturday, November 13 at Calvery Moravian Church on Holly Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC.

Ragtime traces the story of three diverse families pursuing the American dream at the dawn of the twentieth century. The worlds of a wealthy white family, an African American ragtime pianist, and a Jewish immigrant father and his daughter all collide together in this epic story told. The production will be directed by award-winning actor, writer, producer, director, and current Artistic Director of The North Carolina Black Repertory Company, Jackie Alexander. Piedmont Opera’s General and Artistic Director James Allbritten will serve as musical director and conductor.
The Company is seeking performers for all secondary roles and for the ensemble. Performers are asked to prepare a musical theater selection – a pianist will be provided. In addition, auditionees should be prepared to read a selected side from the musical. Sides will be provided prior to the audition. A small movement call will begin afterward. No prior experience is needed.
Three performances are scheduled for March 18, 20, and 22, 2022.
