MORE ABOUT THE PIECE
Technology is haunted by the lives of those who live and die by its assembly and disassembly: electronics assembly and recycling workers. A great share of these lives are in Asia, migrant workers drifting along flows of chemical toxicity and environmental ruin. GHOST__WORLD is a multipart dance performance, building both from the gestures of electronics manufacturing, as well as gestures of erasure. AR will be key to this erasure – used to reveal digital ghost dancers during exhibition hours, as well as block connection with audiences during live performance: the audience will be encouraged to be on their phones, looking for hidden elements and visual alterations – leaving the AAPI dancers to perform for an audience of faces blocked by screens, which will be documented as part of the piece.
