The Book of Us is an indie coming of age short film that follows Mayah and Gwen as they navigate new feelings about each other and about themselves.
Written and directed by Alexa Derryberry, a sophomore B.F.A film major at Southern Methodist University. The goal is to make a professional, high level short film for my major and to submit to film festivals.
Mayah (Female, any ethnicity, 18-25), she is a book lover, especially for the Percy Jackson series. Mayah is a bit shy and timid. Mayah is book smart and usually attentive, but recently she has been struggling with unidentified feelings of attraction towards Gwen, her best friend, and she is at a loss for what to do.
Gwen (Female, any ethnicity, 18-25), she is a care-free spirit. She is strong-minded and occasionally childish. Gwen has an easy going attitude and sometimes gets lost in her own head. Gwen has a flirty personality but when she means something she makes it clear.
