American Idol is now holding live auditions.
Instead of their huge open calls that the used to hold annually across many major cities, this year they are doing the tryouts virtually. The audition campaign is called Idol Across America and is offering virtual auditions, on zoom, on different days on a state by state basis…as a virtual audition tour.
The virtual tour of America tryouts are being held in a live format, with a small twist…the live auditions will have people watching, in real time, over the internet.
Mississippians have their chance coming up next week, and the good news is that they can tryout, in front of producers, without even leaving their home via zoom.
“Idol Across America” tour will conduct a virtual open call in Mississippi.
Wednesday, August 16.
The tryouts will be live, not submitted via a video audition and the American Idol casting team will be on hand to watch the live performance, virtually, and provide feedback.
While the auditions will be held virtually via the Zoom platform, the essence of the contest remains unchanged. During the initial round of this season’s “American Idol“, participants will have the opportunity to perform live, face-to-face with an ‘American Idol’ producer. Feedback will be given in real-time, offering contestants a candid and immediate response to their performances.

“American Idol” has also been praised for its ability to provide a platform for aspiring artists to showcase their talents and pursue their dreams. It has helped shape the careers of many musicians, even those who didn’t win the competition, by exposing them to a wide audience.
After its initial run on Fox, “American Idol” went through a brief hiatus and was later revived by ABC, with its first revived season airing in 2018.
