DESCRIPTION: This is an 8-minute short film for Third World Newsreel production workshop. TWN is an alternative media arts organization that fosters the creation, appreciation, preservation, and dissemination of independent film and video by and about people of color and social justice issues.
Commitment – Rehearsals begin June 3rd; the first shoot is June 17th. There will be five more full-day shoots after that, on Saturdays.
STORY: A young black male struggling with his gender expression is embraced by someone he loves and finds the courage he needs to express his truth.
ROLES: We are seeking actors for the following role:
Andre – 20’s, black male, mostly masculine presenting but also gender non-conforming
Sharese – 20’s black female, Andre’s girlfriend, artist, afro-centric, hippie or goth
Dion – 20’s black male, Andre’s brother, hotep-type
Dean – 40’s black male, Andre’s father, traditional
Mami Water – black female, any age, dancer
Non paid. Actors receive credits and a copy of the reel.
