About the film. Catrina is a classical period ghost story set in 1910. Inspired by true events and the Mexican tradition, El Dia De Los Muertos-The Day of the Dead. Catrina is a visually stimulating Tim Burton esque film with inspirational notes from the film Frida. We believe this to be a ground breaking experimental short film, which is expected to reach many prominent festivals and make for a great calling card for all involved.
Logline. Having lost the love of her life, and unable to bear the pain, Catrina commits a mortal sin in the eyes of god and the Church. Her moral transgressions have condemned her to a life of suffering and loneliness. But it is said that hunger for love can transcend time.
Catrina(principal). Gender: Female. Ethnicity: Mexican, Hispanic, Latina, LatinX, Latin American. Age range: 18-24. Her physical characteristics, she doesn’t wear makeup. Actor’s SPECIAL
TALENTS: singer/classical (ideal, but not required). Actor should be able to speak English with a Mexican/Spanish accent and pronounce some words in Spanish.
CHARACTER’s BREAKDOWN. Catrina is a young lady with timeless beauty and elegance. She’s educated and has traveled the World. Catrina comes from an upper class family and she’s well spoken. She appears innocent, but she has a strong sense of self. She’s mysterious.
