ARTS Unlimited is holding auditions for FOOTLOOSE
Seeking non-union actors, ages 16 and older, of all backgrounds, ethnicities, and experience levels. Everyone is encouraged to audition.
About Footloose:
“Footloose: The Musical” is an energetic theatrical production based on the 1984 hit movie “Footloose.” Bursting with infectious songs and high-energy dance numbers, the musical follows the story of Ren McCormack, a charismatic and rebellious teenager who moves to a small town where dancing and rock music are banned due to a tragic past incident. Determined to challenge the conservative rules, Ren befriends the local reverend’s daughter, Ariel, and together they lead a movement to bring back the joy of dancing to the community. As they face opposition from the town’s authority figures and confront their own personal demons, the musical delves into themes of freedom, self-expression, and the power of unity. With its toe-tapping tunes, dynamic choreography, and heartwarming narrative, “Footloose: The Musical” has captivated audiences around the world, leaving them inspired and uplifted by its celebration of youthful spirit and the belief in the transformative power of music and dance.

Audition Information:
Auditions will be held at Museum of Military History in Kissimmee, Florida.
August 5 & 6, from 6:30-9:30pm.
We want to give everyone the opportunity to audition!
Those attending Saturday may be asked to return on Sunday for callbacks. Only those called back will be contacted. NOTE: not being called back does not mean that you are not cast in the show.
Likewise, being called back does not mean you will be cast.
All roles, unless otherwise noted, are open. If after auditions, the director believes that a particular role cannot be satisfactorily cast, additional actors may be contacted for further auditions. Being invited to audition, either directly or indirectly, does not guarantee you a role.
Actors should come prepared with:
~ 16 to 32 bars from two songs in the style of the show: a ballad and an upbeat number (think high energy, pop/rock, and 80s). No tracks, please bring sheet music. Feel free to bring audition book, if one is available.
~ The possibility of reading selections from the script, which will be provided. Monologues are not required.
~ Comfortable clothing and shoes (jazz or ballet preferred) for dance audition. Please remember to bring plenty of water with you.
REHEARSALS will take place at the Museum of Military History from 6pm – 9:30pm starting with the Read/Sing Thru on August 10. Rehearsals will be scheduled Tuesdays thru Fridays, based on cast availability and conflicts. THERE WILL BE NO REHEARSALS THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 4. Final schedule will be available after casting is complete and all conflicts accounted for.
Not all actors will be required to attend every rehearsal. We understand that our actors have busy schedules, and we will make all efforts to accommodate availability whenever possible. Please be certain that you are willing and able to make this commitment. If you wish to be considered for ONLY a certain role or roles, please indicate this clearly on your audition form.
PERFORMANCES will take place in two separate venues, as follows:
~Solivita Club (Poinciana) – Saturday, October 14 (matinee and evening)
~The BEV at the Osceola Council on Aging (Kissimmee/St Cloud) – Friday, October 20 (evening) and Sunday, October 22 (evening). There will also be a private performance the MORNING of Friday, October 20, possibly set up as a concert version instead of a full show.
~Possibility of an additional performance on either October 15 or October 21
TECH REHEARSALS will take place:
~Solivita Club – Saturday/Sunday, October 7 & 8, from 10am – 3pm and October 9, 12, 13 from 6-10pm
~The BEV at the Council on Aging – October 17, 18 and 19 from 6-10pm
