Shades of Orange – HAUNTED: A Macbeth Experience
Location: South Bend, IN
Audition / Call Type: Theater
HAUNTED: A MACBETH EXPERIENCE, directed by Miranda Manier and Liz Zimmerman, is an immersive take on the Scottish play, placing audience members within Macbeth’s perspective as paranoia, ambition, and tyranny take hold. In this abbreviated version of “Macbeth,” cast members will be bringing the iconic play to life in an elevated, narrative haunted house environment.
Actors in this production should be comfortable with improv, light fight choreography, and scaring the living daylights out of our audience from just a few feet away. Stipends will be paid to all cast members. Each performance will involve two overlapping runs of the show. Several roles will be double-cast so two audiences can move through the space simultaneously.
No preparation is required for in-person auditions, which will be held at OneRoof Southeast Neighborhood Center (405 E Dubail Ave, South Bend, IN 46613) on Tuesday, May 21 at 6 p.m.
Callbacks will be held on Wednesday, May 22 at 6 p.m.
AVAILABLE ROLES (* indicates role will be double-cast):
– Macbeth*: An overly ambitious military captain, who is deeply in love with his wife. We follow his descent into madness. Must be comfortable with audience interaction and stage combat. $200 stipend.
– Lady Macbeth*: Power hungry and opportunistic. She is a woman living in a man’s world, and will do anything necessary to ensure her survival. $200 stipend.
– Witch*: The embodiment of the question “Fate or Free Will?” Eerie and other-worldly, yet oddly alluring. Must be comfortable with audience interaction and heavy physicality. $200 stipend.
– Banquo: Deeply patriotic and loyal to a fault. Meek and unassuming, but with a heart of steel. $150 stipend
– Macduff*: Stoic and calculating. He’ll take up any cause in the name of justice, but he doesn’t enter a fray he won’t win. Must be comfortable with stage combat. $150 stipend.
