Apollo Theater Talent Search is coming to Gainesville, Florida this weekend.

City of Gainesville announced that this weekend, One Nation One Project will host the Apollo Theater Talent Search at Lincoln Middle School. The project is giving talented youth to show off their talent and possibly win a trip to the legendary Apollo Theater in New York City.

The City of Gainesville is excited to announce that One Nation One Project will be hosting the Apollo Theater Talent Search at Lincoln Middle School this weekend. The top two acts will win an all-expense-paid trip to New York City to compete at Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater.

Open Auditions:

Dates: Saturday, July 13, and Sunday, July 14
Time: 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Location: Lincoln Middle School, 1001 SE 12th St., Gainesville, FL 32641

Eligibility:

Ages: 5-25
Performance Types: Soloists or groups of up to three members
Talents: Singing, dancing, rapping, variety acts, musicians, spoken word artists

“We’re looking for all kinds of talent: solos, duets, trios, singing, dancing, rapping, variety acts, musicians. Come show us what you’ve got!”

Registration:

Advance registration is available but not required. Walk-up performers are welcome.

Important Dates:

Talent Search: July 13-14, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Winner Announcement: July 27, 2024, at the “Summer (You)th Celebration!” at Depot Park from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Requirements and Rules:

Groups must be 3 or less.
Performances must be in good taste, with no profanity or racial slurs.
No lip-syncing or post-production engineering of lead vocals is allowed.
Audition pieces should be up to two minutes; the producer may stop the audition at any time.
Music tracks should be ready to play.
Participants under 18 must have written parental consent and be accompanied by an adult.
All participants must be present at the “Summer (You)th Celebration!” on July 27 to win.
