Casting call for a short film, “Amara.”

This movie is films in N.Y.C. August 17th, August 18th and August 19th, 2024.

Amara is a narrative family drama about a Jamaican-American first gen millennial facing her mother’s mental health decline. We have filled 7 out of 9 of our roles, but are still in search of our lead actress. We are looking for a woman, late 20s- early 30s, medium to deep complexion, Black-Caribbean. If actress is of Jamaican or Caribbean descent, it’s a bonus.

Amara: Almost 30. Black/Caribbean. Natural hair (Afro) Deep complexion. Artistic. Wakes up tired. Defensive for good reasons. She’s the one who seems to always care the most.
This is a UNION shoot, adhering to all SAG-AFTRA protocol. We are able to accept non-union and union actors, via a New Media Micro Budget SAG-AFTRA agreement. Actors will not qualify for Union status after filming if they are non-union, but we will keep the same day-rate across the board.

3 days of work x $250 day rate = $750 salary for the three days
