Character Breakdown:

Greg:
Late 20s to early 30s
A tall, slightly disheveled man with short, dark hair and a rugged face that reflects his grief. His posture is slouched, and his clothing is often casual, reflecting a man who has been consumed by loss.
Greg is introspective, weighed down by the recent death of his mother. He’s a kind-hearted, but emotionally distant man, struggling to make sense of his grief. Quiet and reserved, he harbors a deep longing for closure and meaning. His inner turmoil is hidden beneath a calm, almost stoic exterior.
Greg is searching for answers in the aftermath of his mother’s death. His interactions with Amber and her mother, Mrs. Modd, offer him glimpses of healing, yet he doesn’t know that these connections are more spiritual than real.
: As the story progresses, Greg’s arc evolves from being lost in sorrow to finding spiritual insight and healing through Amber, only to realize she is no longer alive, making his journey one of profound revelation and faith.

Amber
: Mid-20s
: Gentle and radiant, with long, flowing hair. Her presence is calm and soothing, almost angelic. She dresses in soft, simple clothing that adds to her ethereal appearance. Her smile is warm, her eyes filled with compassion and an otherworldly wisdom.
: Amber is nurturing, insightful, and deeply empathetic. She has a mysterious quality, as though she is more than just a regular person—her calm and comforting demeanor suggests a spiritual force at work. She guides Greg through his grief, helping him come to terms with his loss.
Amber’s role is to aid Greg in his healing journey, though it becomes clear that she herself has passed on. Her motivation is rooted in her connection to something beyond the physical world, offering Greg peace and understanding.
Amber’s presence in the story culminates in the revelation that she is no longer alive. Her arc symbolizes not only the love and faith Greg is searching for but also the unseen signs from the spiritual realm that guide him.

Mrs. Modd
Mid-50s to early 60s
Mrs. Modd is a stately woman with silver-streaked hair tied back neatly, her face lined with wisdom and experience. She dresses modestly, often in muted colors, with a no-nonsense demeanor, yet there’s a softness to her that emerges in moments of vulnerability.
Mrs. Modd is a pragmatic and strong-willed woman, but beneath her strong exterior lies a deep well of love and grief for her daughter, Amber. She is protective of her daughter’s memory and plays a quiet, stabilizing role in Greg’s journey. Mrs. Modd is insightful, often offering cryptic yet meaningful advice to Greg, urging him to open his heart to the mysteries of life.
Mrs. Modd’s motivation is to honor her daughter’s memory and ensure that Amber’s spiritual purpose is fulfilled. Though she harbors her own grief, she is more concerned with helping Greg find the answers he seeks.
Her character’s arc subtly shifts from being a grieving mother to a figure who understands and accepts the spiritual dimensions of Amber’s journey. In a way, Mrs. Modd becomes a bridge between the physical and spiritual world for Greg.

Mother & Small Child
Mother (early 30s), Child (3-4 years old)
The mother is a young woman with tired yet kind eyes, her hair often disheveled from tending to her child. She is dressed in simple, everyday clothing. The child is a small, curious boy or girl with wide eyes and a playful smile, clinging to their mother for comfort.
The mother is caring, though she exudes an air of exhaustion. She is deeply protective of her child but is also compassionate toward Greg. She may seem like an ordinary figure, but she serves as a reminder of life’s simple, yet profound moments of love and protection.
The small child is innocent, playful, and curious about the world. They are a symbol of innocence and new life, contrasting with Greg’s journey through grief.
The mother and child serve as a brief but poignant reminder of life’s cycles—birth, love, and loss. They appear to offer Greg a glimpse into a world where love and protection still exist, giving him a subtle push toward healing.
While the mother and child’s role is minor, they represent the continuity of life and love. Their brief encounter with Greg gives him a sense of warmth and hope amidst his sorrow, gently nudging him toward acceptance and peace.
