About the Project
Silence the Shame is a powerful PSA that tackles the stigma surrounding mental health in Black communities. The story follows three generations of men—a grandfather, father, and son—who confront the unspoken struggles passed down through their family. By opening up, they demonstrate the importance of breaking the cycle of silence and fostering healing through vulnerability and dialogue.
Roles Available
Grandfather
- Age: 65–75
- Ethnicity: Black
- Character: A man carrying hidden burdens of burnout and anxiety. Must be able to convey emotional depth and subtle vulnerability through both expressions and dialogue.
Father
- Age: 40–45
- Ethnicity: Black
- Character: A resilient yet emotionally layered man working to break the generational silence around mental health.
Son
- Age: 18–25
- Ethnicity: Black
- Character: A young man navigating his emotional world with authenticity and warmth, seeking to understand and overcome the struggles he’s inherited.
Actor Requirements
- Strong emotional range.
- Comfortable performing short monologues.
- Passionate about the message of mental health awareness and willing to embody its importance.
