Community Theater Auditions in Laredo, Texas for “Path of Marigolds”

The Pharr Community Theater (PCT) is holding open auditions for “Path of Marigolds” in Laredo, Texas.

Directed by Dalia Bouchée and produced by Pedro Garcia, this comedy-drama is set on Día de Muertos and follows two middle-aged friends, Ariana and Consuelo, as they summon the spirits of Marilyn Monroe, Frida Kahlo, and Sor Juana Inez de la Cruz.

“Path of Marigolds” is a two-act play by Raquel Valle-Sentíes set during Día de Muertos, a traditional Mexican holiday celebrating the lives of the deceased. The narrative centers around two middle-aged women, Ariana and Consuelo, who reunite for dinner at Ariana’s home. As the evening progresses, they perform a ritual to summon the spirits of iconic figures Marilyn Monroe, Frida Kahlo, and Sor Juana Inez de la Cruz. Through their interactions with these spirits, the women unearth secrets and reflect on their past relationships.

Auditions are open to all interested individuals on a first-come, first-served basis and will take place at the Pharr Community Theater.

The play requires five female actors, aged 26 to 55, and features predominantly English dialogue with some Spanish.
Audition sides and character descriptions will be available at the theater.

Rehearsals will run from August 7 to October 1, with performances scheduled from October 2 to 13, 2024.

Tickets will be available for purchase at $12 and $14 starting August 12 at www.pharrcommunitytheater.com.
