The Gaslight Baker Theater in Lockhart, Texas has announced auditions for their fall shows.
There are two upcoming auditions for the productions “The Flick” and “Misery.”
The theater is located at: 216 South Main, Lockhart, TX, United States, Texas.
The Gaslight Baker Theater, located in Lockhart, Texas, is a historic venue with rich heritage that dates back over a century. Established in 1920, the theater offers a variety of live performances, including plays, musicals, and community events. Originally a movie theater, the venue was remodeled to host live theatrical stage plays and the last film to be shown there was in 1984.
The Flick by Annie Baker

Synopsis: Set in a run-down movie theater, three underpaid employees navigate their tiny battles and heartbreaks amidst the last 35mm film projector in the state. Their lives unfold in the empty aisles, becoming more gripping than the movies on screen. With humor and poignancy, “The Flick” is a cry for authenticity in a rapidly changing world.
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

- Sam: 35-year-old white male, often wears a beat-up Red Sox cap, formerly into Heavy Metal.
- Avery: 20-year-old black male, bespectacled, in love with movies, wears red slightly European-looking sneakers.
- Rose: 24-year-old white female, sexually magnetic despite baggy clothes, with forest green dyed hair.
- Skylar/The Dreaming Man: 26 years old.

Synopsis: The story follows Paul Sheldon, a romance novelist, who is rescued from a car crash by his “number one fan,” Annie Wilkes, and held captive in her home. When Annie discovers Paul has killed off her favorite charac
ter, she forces him to write a new Misery novel, revealing her violent tendencies and leaving Paul to write for his survival.
