Roles:
Tully Male – 27-39, Tenor: Smooth-talking, self-deprecating playboy. He’s completely content with the life he’s chosen as the singer/bartender at a tropical resort, and though he’d never admit it, he has a real soft spot for the locals until he meets Rachel, a vacationer who upends his heart. Guitar skills are useful. This role requires onstage physical intimacy/kiss.
Rachel Female – 27-33, Mezzo-Soprano: An environmental scientist who is fully committed to her job and helping the world. Willing to put in as many hours of hard work as it takes and expects everyone else to do the same. Suspicious of fools and operators, Rachel is not easily distracted from her life plan. Realistic, hard-working, and stubborn, love doesn’t come easily to Rachel until she meets Tully. This role requires onstage physical intimacy/kiss.
Tammy Female – 30-39, Mezzo-Soprano: Tammy, Rachel’s best friend, has a larger-than-life sense of humor and finds joy in the world wherever she goes. Sees the best in people and has a zest for life that is often squelched by her fiance, Chad. Her low self-esteem manifests itself as denial in her own life. A loyal friend and lover of puns, Tammy really needs this vacation! This role requires onstage physical intimacy/kiss.
Brick Male – 30-39, Tenor: The Island bartender. Has a big heart and a good friend to Tully. Not the brightest bulb, but he’s got an enormous heart, a sensitive soul, and loves helping those around him. This role requires onstage physical intimacy/kiss.
Marley Female – 40-49, Soprano, BIPOC performer preferred: No-nonsense and assertive with an island accent. She runs the resort and keeps everyone in check, but clearly cares about her employees, her customers, and J.D., an older island denizen. Great singer.
J.D. Male – 50s-70s, Baritone: A funny, endearing older man who always has a parrot on his shoulder. He’s losing his vision and his hearing, but won’t acknowledge it. A good-natured drunkard, he’s always writing his memoirs on bar napkins and, as it turns out, he’s lived a full life. Baritone.
Ensemble: All genders, ages (16+), Vocal Ranges, and Ethnic Backgrounds; will range from islanders to tourists to wedding guests. There will be lots to do within this ensemble, and many folks will have featured dialogue and vocal lines. They are the heart and soul of the show that helps keep all of the action moving!
The ensemble may understudy principal/featured roles. Seeking dancers and singers.
