Elkhart Civic Theatre – Auditions for “Fiddler on the Roof”
AUDITIONS ANNOUNCEMENT:
Join the cast of “Fiddler on the Roof,” a classic musical production presented by Elkhart Civic Theatre. Auditions will be held at Saint Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 411 W. Vistula St., at 6:30 p.m. on May 15 and 16.

Winner of nine Tony Awards, “Fiddler on the Roof” revolves around Tevye, a humble milkman, and his five daughters. Set in early 20th-century Russia, the story delves into Tevye’s struggles to uphold tradition amidst changing societal norms and growing anti-Semitism.
Performance dates are scheduled for July 26 to August 4 at the Bristol Opera House.

Audition Details:
- Auditions will include vocal and choreography segments.
- Callbacks will involve cold readings from the script and additional vocals.
- No preparation is required; all materials will be taught during auditions.
- Please bring a list of any potential conflicts between May 20 and August 4.
Character Descriptions:
- Tevye: A warm, hard-working dairyman in his 40s to 50s. Bass-Baritone.
- Golde: Tevye’s strong-willed wife, aged 40s to 50s. Mezzo-Soprano.
- Tzeitel, Hodel, Chava, Shprintze, Bielke: Tevye’s daughters, each with distinct personalities and vocal ranges.
- Yente: The village matchmaker, aged 50s to 60s. Alto.
- Motel, Perchik, Fyedka, Lazar Wolf: Key male characters with varying roles and vocal types.
- Villagers: A diverse ensemble vital for creating the community ambiance in Anatevka. Several featured roles will be cast from this ensemble including The Rabbi, his son Mendel, Nachum the beggar, the Constable, Avram the bookseller, Mordcha the innkeeper, Grandma Tzeitel, Frumah-Sarah and more. For the ensemble we are seeking 15-20 actors ages 8-80.
All roles are open to actors of any ethnicity. We welcome a diverse range of talent to audition for this timeless production.
