Be in a movie.
A big budget film which is rumored to be a Disney movie is filming in New Mexico and there are currently casting calls out for paid movie extras in Santa Fe. The project has been issuing many casting calls for paid extras in recent weeks as they need to fill a variety of small, non speaking roles with locals who would like a chance to work on set.
Disney’s (rumored) latest film venture is currently underway. While the project has remained shrouded in secrecy, last year’s announcement from the New Mexico Film Office hinted at its imminent arrival for spring 2023 filming which of course, got delayed due to entertainment industry strikes. With the resolution of these labor disputes in early 2024, momentum has resumed, and the Disney production is back on track. Details about the film remain scarce, but a series of casting calls under the working title “Jiminy” have been released in the Santa Fe, NM area. Given “Jiminy” is synonymous with the beloved cricket character in Disney lore, speculation points towards these auditions being linked to the New Mexico-based Disney project.

Movies and shows that film, in various areas of the United States, tend to use something called a “Working Title” to address the production rather than the actual name of the movie. The reasons for use of a working title include not yet naming the movie and of course, trying to prevent an onslaught of out of towners applying for jobs on set that they could not possibly fill due to travel.
According to the New Mexico film commission, the Disney movie stars Eva Longoria , Cheech Marin (“Shotgun Wedding,” “Champions”), Jesse Garcia and Thom Nemer who starred in “Snowfall.”
The Disney feature is being directed by Marvin Lemus (“Gentefied”) and produced by Oscar-nominated Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, and their Emmy-winning 21 Laps Entertainment (“Arrival,” “Stranger Things”), along with Lisa Henson and The Jim Henson Company. The executive producers include Eva Longoria, Shelly Strong, and Emily Morris from 21 Laps Entertainment. Based on the screenplay by Matt Lopez (“Promised Land,” “Father of the Bride”).
The Disney movie follows a Mexican-American family who, after losing their connection to each other and their roots, embark on a hilarious and chaotic road trip. Only Alexander, believed to be cursed, can find a way to reunite the family.
