Fond du Lac Community Theatre Announces Auditions for Company by Stephen Sondheim

Audition Details:
- Date: Saturday, November 23, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (drop in at any time; plan to stay for at least 15-30 minutes)
- Location: FDLCT Firehouse, 250 W 9th St, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin
If you’re unable to attend on November 23, please email the director at trevorjclementi@gmail.com to arrange an alternative audition. Callbacks, if needed, will be held on Sunday, November 24, or Monday, November 25.
Preparation Instructions:
- Vocal Audition: Prepare a one-minute musical theatre song, ideally in a similar style to Company—think 60s/70s contemporary or Sondheim. An accompanist will be provided, or you may use a phone or Bluetooth speaker.
- Additional Singing: You will be asked to sing a line from the song “Company” with the accompanist. Review the excerpt (marked “Marta, Susan”) here.
- Movement and Reading: Auditions will include a brief movement sequence and a reading of provided excerpts.

Roles Available:
Note: All actors must be 18+ due to mature content in the show. Approximate age ranges are listed, but actors slightly outside these ranges are encouraged to audition.
- Robert (Bobby) (He/Him, 30-35) – The story’s protagonist, a happy-seeming but emotionally reserved single man observing his married friends and grappling with fears of marriage and loneliness.
- Sarah (She/Her, 30-40) – Harry’s hypercritical wife, a devoted learner of karate and an over-eater, both loving and accepting in nature.
- Harry (He/Him, 35-45) – Sarah’s husband, a recovering alcoholic who values the advantages of marriage despite his struggles.
- Susan (She/Her, 30-40) – A gentle Southern belle and motherly figure to Robert; both wife and ex-wife to Peter.
- Peter (He/Him, 30-40) – Susan’s husband, a liberal-minded man with a flexible approach to relationships.
- Jenny (She/Her, 30-40) – Simultaneously traditional and insightful, Jenny quietly supports her husband David and keeps him grounded.
- David (He/Him, 30-40) – Jenny’s husband, calm and self-assured; believes marriage is worth sacrificing freedom.
- Amy (She/Her, 25-35) – Paul’s fiancée; neurotic and fearful of marriage, but ultimately realizes Paul is her true love.
- Paul (He/Him, 30-40) – Amy’s devoted fiancé, patient and supportive, and an advocate for marriage.
- Joanne (She/Her, 40-50) – A witty and blunt character caught between age groups; brassy but vulnerable around her husband, Larry.
- Larry (He/Him, 45-55) – Joanne’s calm and steady husband; indulges her but knows when to stand firm.
- Marta (She/Her, 20-30) – A spirited and adventurous girlfriend of Robert, drawn to the excitement of city life.
- Kathy (She/Her, 25-35) – An old girlfriend of Robert who is ready to leave the city; sweet and affectionate.
- April (She/Her, 25-35) – A slightly ditzy but lovable flight attendant and one of Robert’s girlfriends.
Note: Although actors of any gender identity are welcome to audition, the production will not be using the gender-swapped version of Company due to licensing restrictions.
