The Knoxville Opera Gospel Choir, celebrated as “Knoxville Opera Goes to Church,” is a vital and uplifting part of the Knoxville Opera’s community outreach, sharing inspiring performances at multiple events each year. The choir is made up of a diverse group of singers and instrumentalists from Blount, Knox, and surrounding counties, bringing together talent and culture in a powerful blend of voices.
Under the direction of Jeanie Turner Melton, who has been performing since the age of 8, the choir showcases soulful gospel music that resonates with audiences of all backgrounds. Melton is now seeking new voices to join the choir for the 2025 season and will be holding auditions on two upcoming dates.
