Audition Notice for Laredo Little Theatre Presents “Let the Right One In”
The Laredo Little Theatre is excited to announce auditions for its upcoming production of Let the Right One In, written by Jack Thorne and directed by Damaris Guzman and Ricky Castillon. We are seeking a dynamic and diverse cast of actors aged 16 and up who can bring depth and authenticity to the complex characters and intense relationships that are central to this haunting tale.
Audition Details:
- Dates: Thursday, August 22 & Friday, August 23
- Time: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- Location: Laredo Little Theatre, 4802 Thomas Avenue
No prior acting experience is required. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. We encourage actors of all backgrounds and experience levels to audition.

About the Play: Let the Right One In is a dark, emotionally charged adaptation that explores themes of love, isolation, and the supernatural. Set in a small town, the story follows the unlikely bond between a bullied boy and a mysterious new neighbor with a chilling secret. This production offers a range of challenging roles that require actors capable of portraying vulnerability, intensity, and a spectrum of human emotions.
Character Descriptions:
- Oskar: A lonely, introverted boy who is relentlessly bullied at school. Despite his gentle nature, he harbors dark fantasies of revenge.
- Eli: An enigmatic and androgynous newcomer to Oskar’s apartment complex. Eli is a centuries-old vampire, burdened by the need to survive on human blood.
- Hakan: Eli’s devoted caretaker, whose love and loyalty lead him down a morally complex and tragic path.
- Yvonne: Oskar’s overprotective mother, overwhelmed by her own fears and anxieties about her son’s safety.
- Erik: Oskar’s estranged father, who struggles with alcoholism and emotional distance.
- Jocke: A kind local man who tragically falls victim to Eli’s thirst for survival.
- Lacke: Jocke’s close friend, who becomes suspicious of the strange occurrences in their town and is determined to uncover the truth.
- Virginia: Lacke’s strong-willed girlfriend, who becomes entangled in the dark events of the story.
- The Bullies (Jonny, Micke, Staffan): The tormentors of Oskar, each with distinct personalities, embodying the cruelty he faces daily.
