That’s right, Dexter will be coming back with another show called “Dexter: Origins” and looks like it will be going into production in just a few weeks which should make fans of the hit Showtime series pretty happy. There is currently a casting call out for extras that would like to fill some small, paid, roles on set in Miami. Casting directors in the Miami, Florida area are looking to cast for small roles for the upcoming production.

Dexter: Origins is supposed to be a prequel series that delves into the early days of Dexter Morgan’s career at the Miami Metro Police Department and his gradual transformation into the infamous serial killer.
The IMDB description isn’t very informative and simply states:
“Follows a young Dexter Morgan on his transition into an avenging serial killer.”
The Dexter: Origins IMDB page also doesn’t list the cast or an upcoming release date. However, according to online reports, the show begins with Dexter graduating from college and joining the police force. It features key appearances by his adoptive father, Harry, originally portrayed by James Remar, and his sister, Deb, originally portrayed by Jennifer Carpenter in Dexter and Dexter: New Blood. This new show provides a deeper look into the formative events that shaped Dexter’s dark path.

Last summer, The Wall Street Journal ran a story about “Dexter: Origins” which claimed that the new series will be incorporating certain stories that will be based on real events and some of the serial killers that prowled the streets of Miami, decades ago. Since the original “Dexter” took place in the early 2000’s, we can expect this prequel to go back further in time and maybe as far back as the 1980s.
Also, according to the Dexter fan site, the show may also be filming in the Los Angeles area this summer as well.
