New Netflix project is filming in New Jersey and is casting for Military background actors.
Academy award winning director Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker) is working on a new movie for Netflix. The Netflix feature will be filming scenes in the New Jersey area and the productions extra’s casting directors, GWCI, are seeking NJ area locals who are real military and have actual experience as military personnel.
The casting call is for a Netflix project, yet, the name of the film is being kept under wraps. According to HR, the movie is set at the White House as some kind of catastrophe occurs. However, Indiewire had a bit more information as of last month which states…”‘The Hurt Locker‘ filmmaker is tackling a new script from Noah Oppenheim.”
“Netflix has teamed up with Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow for a harrowing ticking-clock thriller. The streamer has greenlit a film centered on a group of White House officials scrambling to deal with an incoming missile attack on the U.S.” – HR
Bigelow has an impressive resume of military themed films. Bigelow was behind the 2012 hit Zero Dark Thirty, which was about the US Navy Seal mission to kill the terror leader, Bin Laden. Zero Dark Thirty was filmed in what portrayed a real time mission and according to reports, her upcoming Netflix feature will have that same real time feel.
Another Netflix project Happy Gilmore 2 is also casting in New Jersey
Kathryn Bigelow is known for her powerful and visually striking films. Her most notable works include “The Hurt Locker” (2008), which won her the Academy Award for Best Director, making her the first woman to win in that category. Additionally, Bigelow also directed “Zero Dark Thirty” (2012), a gripping account of the hunt for Osama bin Laden, and “Point Break” (1991), a cult classic blending action and crime thriller elements. And, in 2017, Bigelow directed the intense war drama “Detroit,” which dove into the 1967 Detroit riots and the aftermath.
Production:
The current casting notice states that the Netflix, Kathryn Bigelow film, will be filming in and around New Jersey State in September and October of this year. As for the actual location in New Jersey, well, that is not stated. However, casting directors are requesting that those who fit the description and live in New Jersey, submit their interest to the extras casting team. These are paid extras jobs on set but as being background work, travel will not be paid.
