AUDITION NOTICE FOR SWEENEY TODD AT THE HENEGAR

(Adult 18+ Vocalists/Actors)(16+ with parental permission)
Sunday, August 4th (6pm-10pm)
Monday, August 5th (6pm-10pm)

Special Note:
The roles of Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett have been cast from a previous audition.

Rehearsal Dates: August 25th-October 3rd
Rehearsals are generally Sunday through Thursday 6:30pm-10:30pm
(Mandatory Tech Week: September 29th-October 3rd)

It hosts a diverse range of performances, including musicals, plays, and special events.

Audition Information:

To schedule an audition, email auditions@henegar.org with your SATB vocal part, preferred date and time, and a performer headshot. In-person auditions are prioritized, but virtual submissions are accepted for those traveling more than 90 miles. Virtual submissions should include a headshot, theatre resume, vocal selection from the show.

In person auditions will have first consideration of casting; however, performers traveling further than 90 miles from The Henegar may submit a virtual audition. If you would like to submit a Virtual Audition please submit a Headshot, Theatre Resume, a Vocal Selection from the show, and Dance Reel (if applicable) by Saturday, August 3rd. Please include if there are any specific roles you’d like to be considered for, if you would be willing to accept any other role, if you have any conflicts throughout the run, and if you would require housing if available.

Compensation:

Eligible actors aged 16 and up will receive a paid travel stipend at the end of the show’s run. The Henegar Center offers equity guest contracts to union members and professional actor contracts when needed. The Henegar is an Equal Opportunity Theatre and encourages performers of all ethnicities to audition.

Audition Details:
Music, scenes, or choreography will be taught on the night of auditions. Callbacks may occur on the same night. Vocal sides will be sent in advance once your appointment is confirmed.

Roles Available:

  • Anthony Hope (Tenor, Bb2-F4): Naive sailor, helps Todd return to London, falls in love with Johanna. (Male Identifying, 18-25)
  • Johanna (Soprano, Bb3-A5): Innocent and yearning for freedom, Todd’s daughter, Turpin’s ward. (Female Identifying, 18-25)
  • Tobias Ragg (Tenor, Bb2-Ab4): Poor youngster, apprenticed to Pirelli, finds family in Todd and Lovett. (Male Identifying, 16+)
  • Judge Turpin (Bass/Baritone, E2-Gb4): Corrupt public official, responsible for imprisoning Todd. (Male Identifying, 45-65)
  • Beadle Bamford (Tenor, D3-D5): Loyal to Turpin, pompous public official. (Male Identifying, 35-55)
  • Beggar Woman/Lucy Barker (Mezzo Soprano, Ab3-F5): Deranged woman with a dark secret. (Female Identifying, 35-50)
  • Adolfo Pirelli (Tenor, B2-C5): Flamboyant rival barber with a secret past. (Male Identifying, 30-45)
  • Jonas Fogg: Owner of Fogg’s Asylum, sells hair to wigmakers. (Male Identifying, 21+)
  • Adult Ensemble: Strong ensemble singing with solos and harmonies, various roles including customers, townspeople, policemen, and asylum inmates. (Adult 18+ vocalists/actors, 16+ with parental permission)
