Don’t miss your chance to join the national tour of the sensational musical “Wicked.” The open call is coming up in just a week and this time it will be held in Orlando. Yes, it’s a paid opportunity!
“Wicked” offers a fresh and intriguing twist on L. Frank Baum’s beloved tale, “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” by narrating the story from the viewpoint of the witches. Inspired by Gregory Maguire’s novel, “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West,” this musical provides an in-depth look at the hidden backstory of these iconic characters.

The stage show is set in the time before Dorothy’s fateful arrival in Oz, focusing on the intricate relationship between Elphaba, the misunderstood and maligned Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda, the charming and popular Good Witch of the North. The story takes the audience on an emotional journey, highlighting the evolution of their friendship, the obstacles they encounter, and the pivotal events that ultimately shape the magical realm of Oz. Through its rich storytelling and complex characters, “Wicked” reveals the untold stories and motivations behind these legendary figures, offering a deeper understanding of the world of Oz.

While Wicked is a Broadway and touring production, Universal is also bringing the story to the silver screen. Actually, Universal Pictures just dropped the upcoming Wicked movie cinematic trailer about a week back and of course, it looks…. well, Wicked.
Here’s a bit about the upcoming “Wicked” movie:
After two decades as a beloved stage musical, “Wicked” makes its cinematic debut this holiday season as a generation-defining event. The film stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, the misunderstood green-skinned witch, and Ariana Grande as Glinda, the ambitious and popular young woman. Their story begins at Shiz University in Oz, where they form an unlikely friendship that changes their lives after an encounter with The Wizard of Oz.
Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode, and Jeff Goldblum join the cast, bringing the fantastical characters to life. Directed by Jon M. Chu, “Wicked” is the first of a two-part film, with Part Two scheduled for release on November 26, 2025. Produced by Marc Platt and David Stone, and based on Gregory Maguire’s novel, the film features a screenplay adapted by Winnie Holzman and music by Stephen Schwartz. This adaptation promises to be an immersive cultural celebration, continuing the legacy of the original stage production.

Seeking singers who move well, ages 18+, any ethnicity, any gender, with fantastic voices and wide vocal ranges, for principal and ensemble roles.
Seeking dancers who sing, ages 18+, any ethnicity, any gender, who have strong ballet/jazz technique for Wayne Cilento’s edgy, contemporary choreography, for ensemble roles.

OPEN CALL FOR SINGERS Sign-in 9:30am-10:00am
Please do not arrive prior to 9:30am. Singers must arrive prior to 10:00am to be considered. Please prepare to sing a cappella 16 bars of a contemporary musical theatre song showing range. Sopranos may sing 16 bars of a traditional legit musical theatre song showing range. Please also bring sheet music in case you are asked to sing with piano accompaniment. Please bring a photo/resume stapled together.
OPEN CALL FOR DANCERS Sign-in 2:00pm-2:30pm
Please do not arrive prior to 2:00pm. Dancers must arrive prior to 2:30pm to be considered. Please wear jazz shoes or sneakers and arrive warmed up and ready to dance. In case you are asked to return to sing, please prepare 16 bars of a musical theatre or pop song. Please bring sheet music for the piano accompanist provided. Please bring a photo/resume stapled together.
Potential callbacks for Singers and Dancers will occur on Friday, June 7.
