Calling all aspiring actors! Jackson College is excited to announce open auditions for the fall production of the timeless classic Steel Magnolias. This is your opportunity to step into the spotlight and be part of an unforgettable theatrical experience.
Synopsis of Steel Magnolias:
Set in Truvy’s beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, Steel Magnolias tells the heartwarming and often humorous story of six Southern women who share their lives, loves, and losses over the course of several years. The play captures the strength, resilience, and enduring friendships of these women, as they navigate the challenges life throws their way. From weddings to funerals, and everything in between, Steel Magnolias is a testament to the power of friendship and the bonds that hold us together through thick and thin.

Theatre Instructor Sara Anne Tomczak will host auditions for Steel Magnolias open to all students, staff, and community members on Sept. 9, 2024.
Auditions for Steel Magnolias are open to all students, staff, and community members on September 9th and 10th. All ethnicities and genders are welcome to audition. Ages 16+.
Auditions will consist of reading scenes. Scenes will be sent to your email provided in your selected audition time slot.
Accepting online auditions as well.
Performance Dates: November 15, 16, and 17

Character Descriptions:
- Truvy Jones: 40s. The vivacious owner of the beauty salon, full of warmth and gossip.
- Annelle Dupuy-Desoto: 19. Truvy’s shy and quirky assistant, who has a mysterious past.
- Clairee Belcher: 66. The elegant widow of the former mayor, with a sharp wit and grande dame presence.
- Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie: 25. The town’s beauty, whose life takes a tragic turn.
- M’Lynn Eatenton: 50s. Shelby’s strong-willed mother, a career woman facing unimaginable heartache.
- Ouiser Boudreaux: 66. A wealthy, cantankerous woman with a heart of gold hidden beneath her gruff exterior.
