Seeking New York-based musician/actors for understudies in MCC Theater’s production of THE LONELY FEW!
“The Lonely Few” is a rock musical that delves into the intricate web of human connections amidst isolation. Set against the backdrop of a small, rural town, the story follows a disparate group of individuals grappling with their own struggles and desires. As they navigate through life’s complexities, they find solace and understanding in each other’s company, forming an unlikely bond that transcends their individual loneliness. “The Lonely Few” explores themes of longing, resilience, and the profound impact of human connection in a world where loneliness can often feel all-encompassing.
Starting rehearsals April 2024.
SEEKING UNDERSTUDIES FOR MCC THEATER’S PRODUCTION:
[UNDERSTUDY FOR LILA]
Late 20s. Female (cis, transgender, or non-binary). Queer. White, Guitar – plays a range of rock and pop styles with proficiency. Epic rock or pop voice. Frontwoman of a band, lead vocal chops. From a working-class background in a small town in Kentucky.
[UNDERSTUDY FOR AMY]
Late 205-30s. Female (cis, transgender, or non-binary). Queer. Black. Guitar – plays a range of rock and pop styles with proficiency. Rich and powerful voice, comfortable in rock, soul, blues and country styles, Confident and comfortable in herself and her sexuality, but struggles to fully let her guard down.
[UNDERSTUDY FOR JJ]
20s. Female (cis, transgender, or non-binary). AAPI. Keyboard, harmonica, and basic percussion plays a range of rock and pop styles with proficiency. Higher vocal range than Lila/Amy but not of the traditional “legit soprano.” Think the person on the top part of The Chicks or Highwomen harmony splits. Also from this small Kentucky town-Young, vibrant, and unabashedly herself.

50s. Male (cis, transgender, or non-binary). Black. Drums – plays a range of rock and pop styles with proficiency. Strong singer, solid on harmonies. Lila’s friend and Amy’s former stepfather. Funny. Paternal, particularly to Amy. He has lived and toured as a musician in all kinds of groups, and has seen a lot of the country.
