Role Details:
- Character: Usher
- Description: Black, playing age 20-26, High Tenor (Eb3-D5). Usher is a “young, overweight-to-obese, cisgender queer male full of self-conscious femme energy.” He is highly intelligent, deeply ironic, and intensely self-aware, though plagued by insecurity. Usher is an usher by night and a musical theater writer by day. His humor is warm but laced with irony, and his emotional darkness is expressed through his writing rather than his outward demeanor. This role involves scenes that explore themes of sexual trauma.
