Old Pueblo Playwrights is excited to announce open auditions for their 36th Annual New Play Festival on Monday, January 6, 2025. This annual event celebrates new and original works by local playwrights and will take place at the Cabaret Theatre at The Temple of Music and Art from February 6–9, 2025.
Audition Details:
- Date: Monday, January 6, 2025
- Location: St. Francis in the Foothills, 4625 E. River Rd, Tucson, Classroom #50
- Sign-Ups Begin: 6:00 PM
- Audition Readings Start: 6:30 PM
- What to Prepare: A 2-minute reading or monologue (memorized or read).
- Additional Info: A theatrical resume is helpful but not required.
Casting Breakdown:
- Male Actors: 8 roles, ages ranging from mid-20s to early 70s
- Female Actors: 2 roles for ages 50s to early 70s, plus 1 non-speaking role for a 20–25-year-old
- Note: There are no roles for children.
Festival and Rehearsal Details:
- Rehearsals: Scheduled by directors; approximately 2–3 rehearsals per play.
- Performance Dates:
- Evenings: February 6, 7, 8, and 9
- Matinees: February 8 and 9
- Plays Performed:
- 3 full-length plays
- 3 one-act plays
- 11 short plays (10–15 minutes each)
- Format: All performances are script-in-hand—no memorization required. Each play will have a single performance during the festival.
- Stipend: Actors will receive a small stipend. Those appearing in multiple plays may receive a maximum of two stipends.
