Aurora Community Theatre Announces Auditions for The 39 Steps
Aurora Community Theatre is excited to hold auditions for The 39 Steps, a fast-paced, high-energy comedy adapted by Patrick Barlow from the classic novel by John Buchan and the iconic film by Alfred Hitchcock. Directed by Kate Smith, this production requires a cast of four versatile, comedic actors who can bring an entire 1935 adventure film to life on stage.

About the Show:
This thrilling comedy follows Richard Hannay, an ordinary man caught up in a dangerous web of espionage. Featuring just four actors, the production relies on impeccable comedic timing, quick character changes, and a flair for physical theater.

Roles Available:
Richard Hannay (Male presenting, 20s–50s, any race/ethnicity)
A charming, dashing leading man with wit and intelligence. Must maintain an upper-class British accent and have strong comedic and physical acting skills.
Annabella/Pamela/Margaret (Female presenting, 20s–50s, any race/ethnicity)
Plays three distinct roles: a sophisticated British woman, a mysterious Russian, and a Scottish farm girl. Requires excellent comedic timing, physical agility, and the ability to switch between accents effortlessly.
Clown #1 & Clown #2 (Any gender, 18+, any race/ethnicity)
These two actors portray over 150 characters throughout the show, including heroes, villains, men, women, children, and even objects. Requires exceptional comedic timing, physical agility, versatility with European accents, and the ability to lift and maneuver set pieces.
