Horror fans, it’s time to return to where it all began—Camp Crystal Lake.
A24 is currently in production on Crystal Lake, an upcoming prequel series inspired by the iconic Friday the 13th film franchise. The series, set in the 1970s, is being produced for Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming platform, and is now casting background actors and extras to appear throughout the show. Filming will take place in New Jersey—where the original film was also shot—making this an exciting opportunity for local talent to be part of horror history.

Crystal Lake will explore the chilling origins of the Friday the 13th saga, diving deeper into the backstory of Pamela Voorhees and her infamous son, Jason. The 1980 original, directed by Sean S. Cunningham and written by Victor Miller, became a cult classic and spawned one of the most recognizable franchises in horror. Much of the film was shot in real New Jersey locations, including Camp NoBeBoSco in Hardwick (Warren County), Blairstown, and Hope, making the return to these settings a full-circle moment for fans and filmmakers alike. – see more about show at NJ.
Casting Breakdown:
Producers are seeking New Jersey locals of all ages and backgrounds to appear as extras and background actors in this 1970s-set series. Filming is scheduled to take place between June and October 2025.
Those applying should be comfortable portraying characters from the 1970s era—modern hairstyles, visible tattoos, facial piercings, or other contemporary looks may be restricted due to the show’s period setting.
This is a paid opportunity. Rates will vary based on union status (SAG-AFTRA or non-union).
