Audition Notice – Anastasia: The Musical at The Henegar
The Henegar Center is excited to announce auditions for Anastasia: The Musical, seeking adult and child vocalists, actors, and dancers for various roles.
Audition Dates:
- Sunday, March 9th (5:00 PM – 10:00 PM)
- Monday, March 10th (5:00 PM – 10:00 PM)
Rehearsal & Performance Schedule:
- Rehearsals: March 23rd – April 24th (Sunday – Thursday, 6:30 PM – 10:30 PM)
- Mandatory Tech Week: April 27th – May 1st
- Performances: May 2nd – May 25th
- Fridays: 8:00 PM
- Saturdays: 2:00 PM & 8:00 PM
- Sundays: 2:00 PM
- Additional Thursday performances may be added

How to Audition:
For a smoother audition experience, booking a guaranteed time slot is strongly encouraged. Walk-ins will be seen in the next available slot but may experience longer wait times.
To secure an appointment, email auditions@henegar.org with:
- Your SATB vocal part
- Preferred audition date & time
- Performer headshot
Compensation & Equity Contracts:
- Paid travel stipend for all eligible performers (16+) upon completion of the production.
- The Henegar Center may offer Equity Guest Contracts and professional actor contracts as needed.
- The Henegar is an Equal Opportunity Theatre, welcoming performers of all ethnicities and backgrounds.
Audition Details:
- Music, scenes, and choreography will be taught at auditions.
- Some performers may be asked to attend callbacks the same evening.
- Vocal sides will be sent in advance upon confirmation of your appointment.
Virtual Submissions:
While in-person auditions receive first consideration, performers traveling more than 90 miles may submit a virtual audition. To submit, email:
- Headshot & theatre résumé
- Vocal selection from the show
- Dance reel (if applicable)
- Desired roles & willingness to accept other roles
- Any known conflicts
- Housing needs (if applicable)
Deadline for virtual submissions: Saturday, March 8th.

Anya / Anastasia Romanov
A strong-willed young woman discovering her identity.
- Age Range: 24-26
- Vocal Range: G3-F5 (Belt to D5)
Dmitry Sudayev
A street-smart conman with a heart of gold.
- Age Range: 25-28
- Vocal Range: A2-G4 (“Baritenor”)
Vladimir “Vlad” Popov
A charming swindler with a dramatic flair.
- Age Range: Early 40s – Early 50s
- Vocal Range: A2-F4 (Comic Baritone)
Deputy Commissioner Gleb Vaganov
A conflicted Bolshevik officer.
- Age Range: Mid-30s
- Vocal Range: A2-Gb4 (Baritone with strong upper extension)
Countess Lily Malevsky-Malevitch
A clever and fun lady-in-waiting.
- Age Range: Mid-30s – Late 40s
- Vocal Range: G3-B5 (Jazzy Mezzo with upper extension)
Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna Romanov
A regal and commanding figure mourning her family’s loss.
- Age Range: 60-75
- Vocal Range: F3-Bb4 (Regal Mezzo)
Young Anastasia / Alexei (Doubles in Ensemble)
- Young Anastasia: The precocious youngest Romanov daughter.
- Alexei: The late heir to the throne.
- Age Range: 5-10 (Alexei), 7-11 (Young Anastasia)
- Vocal Range: C4-C5 (Sweet child soprano)
Ensemble:
Various roles, including Anastasia’s sisters, a ballet pas de deux couple, guards, soldiers, immigrants, and Parisians.
