About the Show
Faustus, a brilliant yet tormented scholar, makes a dark pact with Mephistopheles, a demonic puppet master who lures them deeper into corruption. Faustus becomes ensnared by the Seven Deadly Sins—shadowy marionettes, once human, now tools of the devil’s influence.
Christopher Marlowe’s Doctor Faustus is a classic Elizabethan tragedy that explores ambition, knowledge, and the consequences of unchecked desire. The play follows Dr. Faustus, a brilliant but arrogant scholar who makes a pact with the devil, selling his soul in exchange for limitless knowledge and power. As he indulges in worldly pleasures, he ultimately realizes the futility of his deal, leading to his tragic downfall. Marlowe’s work is a cautionary tale about hubris and the dangers of overreaching ambition, blending elements of morality plays with Renaissance humanism.
