Costa Mesa Playhouse presents Sweat by Lynn Nottage, a powerful drama that won the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
Set in a working-class town, Sweat follows a tight-knit group of friends whose bonds are tested by layoffs, picket lines, and shifting loyalties. As economic hardship takes its toll, friendships unravel, and tensions rise in this poignant exploration of class, race, and the American Dream.
Directed by Brooke Aston Harper, this compelling production delves into the struggles of those left behind by industrial decline. Auditions will be held on March 31 and April 1 from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM at Costa Mesa Playhouse.
Actors are encouraged to prepare a one-minute monologue or perform a cold read from provided sides. This is a community theater production with no pay.

Stage Manager – Jenelle Huck
Winner of the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Sweat tells the story of a group of friends who have spent their lives sharing drinks, secrets, and laughs while working together on the factory floor. But when layoffs and picket lines chip away at their trust, the friends find themselves pitted against each other in a heart-wrenching fight to stay afloat. Sweat gives voice to some of the aches and frustrations that animate a nation unmoored by job displacement, thwarted dreams and self-medication.??? ?
