Theatre in the Park Announces 2025 Summer Season Auditions – April 12 in Springfield

Theatre in the Park, Illinois’ Official State Theatre, is holding open auditions for its 2025 summer season on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Auditions will take place at Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church, located at 505 S. Douglas Avenue, Springfield, IL 62704.

Auditions are open to teens and adults for four of the five productions slated for the upcoming season. Performers will have the opportunity to be considered for a range of shows, including classic Shakespeare, original works, and musical comedy.

The season consists of five shows, four of which will be cast that weekend. They are Edgar Lee Masters’ The Sangamon, adapted and directed by Jim Yale; Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, adapted and directed by Mark Buckholz; Ken Bradbury and Roger Wainwright’s Camp Sunshine (a musical), directed by Shawn Scofield; and Mama Won’t Fly, a play by Jones Hope Wooten and directed by Lora Beavers. The first show of the season, Moana Jr., is a Studio on the Square production in partnership with TIP and is directed by Mary Kate Smith.

Audition Schedule

  • 9:00 AM – Twelfth Night – Shakespeare’s timeless romantic comedy, full of mistaken identities, unrequited love, and hilarious mischief, will be adapted and directed by Mark Buckholz. The show is set in the whimsical land of Illyria and centers around the shipwrecked Viola, who disguises herself as a man and finds herself entangled in a web of affection and confusion.
