Longer Disney monologue for a female actor:
Character: Mulan: “Mulan” (1998)
Monologue:
I never asked for any of this. I never asked to be a hero, or a warrior, or a legend. All I ever wanted was to make my family proud, to honor my ancestors, and to bring honor to myself. But the world had other plans for me.
When I heard that the Huns were invading China, I knew I had to do something. I couldn’t stand by and watch as my country was threatened. So I disguised myself as a man and joined the army. And let me tell you, it wasn’t easy.
I had to endure brutal training, harsh conditions, and constant scrutiny. But I did it. I proved myself to be a skilled fighter, a loyal friend, and a true warrior. And I did it all while keeping my true identity a secret.
But it wasn’t just about the battles and the victories. It was about the friendships I made, the lessons I learned, and the person I became. I discovered strength I never knew I had, courage I never thought I could muster, and a sense of purpose that drove me forward.
And when the time came to face the Huns, I was ready. I fought with everything I had, using my wits, my skills, and my heart. And in the end, I saved China and became a legend.
But that’s not what’s important. What’s important is that I found my true self, my true path, my true destiny. And I did it all because I believed in myself, in my abilities, and in my worth.
So no, I never asked for any of this. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m Mulan, and I’m proud of who I am.
